Egerszeg várának emlékét az írott és a régészeti leleteken kívül egy emléktábla, a bíróság és a börtön tömbjét L alakban övező Várkör utca neve, továbbá a Mindszenty téren elhelyezett makett őrzi.
Zalaegerszeg első írásos említése 1247-ből való, első ábrázolása azonban sokkal később keletkezett. Johannes Ledentu hadmérnök 1640 körül készítette el metszetét az egerszegi várról, ami így a város első ismert ábrázolása.
Ez az ábrázolás szolgált alapjául a város első írásos említésének 770. évfordulója alkalmából felavatott vármakettnek. A Mindszenty téren található alkotást Farkas Ferenc Zalaegerszegért-díjas szobrászművész készítette. A makett időutazásra invitál, segítségével az ideérkezők is ízelítőt kaphatnak abból, hogyan nézett ki a városnak ezen szeglete a régmúlt időkben, hiszen a makett felállítási helye a régi vár területére esik. A külső és a belső várfal mellett a lakó és gazdasági épületek is megfigyelhetők rajta.

Castle Model
Beyond written records and archaeological findings, the memory of Egerszeg Castle is preserved by a commemorative plaque, the name of Várkör Street which curves in an L-shape around the courthouse and prison complex and a precisely crafted scale model displayed on Mindszenty Square.
Zalaegerszeg was first mentioned in written documents in 1247, yet its earliest known visual depiction is much younger. Around 1640, the military engineer Johannes Ledentu created an engraving of the Egerszeg fortress, which stands as the first illustration of the town.
This engraving served as the inspiration for the castle model inaugurated on the 770th anniversary of the city’s first written reference. The artwork on Mindszenty Square was created by Ferenc Farkas, a sculptor honoured with the Zalaegerszeg Award. The model invites visitors on a journey through time, offering a glimpse of what this part of the city looked like centuries ago, as it stands on the former site of the original fortress. In addition to the inner and outer defensive walls, the model clearly depicts the residential and agricultural buildings that once stood here.
