The old town hall and museum

Opposite the main entrance to the parish church (1 Kazinczy tér ) we can see one of the public buildings in Zalaegerszeg esteemed with age. The town hall built in 1787 has been expanded then reconstructed several times in the course of centuries; it
was in 1898 that it reached its current eclectic appearance, which was designed by Román and Tamás Morandini. Its façade bears the coats of arms of both the town and the county. It used to house the Göcseji Museum until 1950 after which, it housed various offices. Since the very beginning, its ground floor has always been occupied by shops.
