The Csipkeházak (Lace Houses) group of buildings (in Tüttőssy utca and Kossuth Lajos utca) may be described as an interesting and even refreshing sight in Zalaegerszeg. Dísz tér is bordered on two sides by these ‘laced’ residential blocks:
the construction of the first block was started in 1974, according to the designs of György Vadász. Their name was given by the local people themselves and refers to the general effect of the balcony railings creating a wavy façade imitating lacework.
