For many, “Herszon” is synonymous with Landorhegy: the sign marking the Herszon Housing Estate was inaugurated on 22 July 1967. The cities of Herson and Zalaegerszeg established ties in the 1970s, and in this spirit today’s Landorhegy Housing Estate had the name “Herszon Housing Estate” until 1989.
(Kherson is a Ukrainian port city northwest of Crimea, situated at the mouth of the Dnieper River. It is an important harbour for both the Black Sea and the Dnieper. Beyond Kherson, Zalaegerszeg maintains sister-city relationships with sixteen other foreign municipalities.)
