The January 1982 issue of Zalai Építők devoted a full-page coverage to the birth of Landorhegy. The neighbourhood’s central axis, Landorhegyi Street, received its name in 1963, and the surrounding roads were developed around this hook-shaped section. The most intensive period of residential construction in the district took place during the 1970s.

For many, “Herszon” is synonymous with Landorhegy: the sign marking the Herszon Housing Estate was inaugurated on 22 July 1967. The cities of Herson and Zalaegerszeg established ties in the 1970s, and in this spirit today’s Landorhegy Housing Estate had the name “Herszon Housing Estate” until 1989.
