Since the county offices over time had grown out of the whole building, in 1891, on the neighbouring site to the Kvártélyház (Quarterhouse), a three-storey eclectic, neo-Renaissance subsidiary county hall to house the sub-prefect’s office and the county archives was erected. It was built following the designs of Miksa Rauscher with a richly ornamented assembly hall (3 Széchenyi tér). The windows of the neo-Classical assembly hall, which is now used as the city assembly hall and marriage hall, overlook the cortile. In the first half of the 20th century, the main public events in the life of the county seat were organised here or in the square in front of the building.
