In 1993 it received the Vilmos Zsigmondy Collection and since then it has been collecting and safekeeping not only the historical mementoes of the oil and gas industry but also of water mining. In an area of 30,000 sq m, its permanent open-air exhibition, situated in the neighbourhood of the Göcseji Village Museum, lets visitors familiarise themselves with the technical mementoes of the oil and gas industry (mining, refining and transporting) and in the permanent exhibition halls with the technological processes and history of this branch of industry. As well as these, in the outdoor sculpture garden we can see the busts of outstanding technical experts. The Museum holds several relics and curiosities: among them the smallest books in the world and possibly Europe’s oldest impossible bottle. The Vilmos Zsigmondy memorial room is also to be seen here, which presents the connection between the Zsigmondy family and water mining in Hungary.
