Zalabesenyő is the only district of Egerszeg to have erected two churches over the course of a millennium. The smaller “cemetery chapel,” dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, was built in the mid-13th century. The district’s second church, named in honour of Saint Anne, was consecrated in 2011.
