Ferenc Plánder Museum. Gönczi Ferenc Museum. Names of the institution that have never become official nor decorated the façade of the museum established in Zalaegerszeg in 1950. Now it is no longer possible to reveal why neither would grace the museum. Our assumptions suggest that the name of Plánder (a parish priest and the first scholar to describe Göcsej) was not widely known at the time. Secondly, the objections to Gönczi (d. 1948) might have been that he was considered too contemporary and worked in Somogy (not Zala) County during the last three decades of his life. Therefore the third, Göcseji Museum, referring to the geographical region, won out and has survived to this day.
