When the Ispita was built, one thousand bricks cost 7 Hungarian forints, while one thousand roof tiles cost somewhere between 5-13 Hungarian forints. Labourers built the walls for 21 Austrian kreutzers a day while master masons could take home as much as 1 Hungarian forint and 30 Austrian kreutzers a day. The wooden structure of the tower was erected from 56 planks. In 1820, seven beggars lived in the Ispita, who received 3 Hungarian forints a month to make ends meet.
