The sculpture, created by Ferenc Farkas, a Zalaegerszeg Award–winning artist, depicts modern-day Zalaegerszeg and is closely linked to his other model on Mindszenty Square, which represents the Ottoman-era Egerszeg Castle as it appeared in back in 1640.
The new city model offers a three-dimensional representation of Zalaegerszeg’s 21st-century centre, highlighting its most significant historical buildings in remarkable detail. Spread across an area of 170 × 200 cm, it brings to life numerous structures that have become inseparable from the city’s story.
Cast in bronze, the model presents the depicted area at an approximate scale of 1:750. By clicking on the numbered buildings in its digital version, visitors can discover additional curiosities and background information.
